Left Middle Cerebral Artery Stroke

History: 65 year old male presents with sudden onset right hemiparesis and slurred speech. This patient was found to have near complete left internal carotid artery occlusion on a subsequent CT-angiogram of the head and neck. This is a middle cerebral artery stroke.

History: 65 year old male presents with sudden onset right hemiparesis and slurred speech.

Single axial CT of the head without contrast reveals a well defined region of hypoattenuation in the left insular cortex with adjacent sulcal effacement and mass effect as evidenced by bulging into the left lateral ventricle

This patient was found to have near complete left internal carotid artery occlusion on a subsequent CT-angiogram of the head and neck. This is a middle cerebral artery stroke.
