The ABCs of Trauma Mnemonic – ABCDEFGHI

This mnemonic has frequently been used for recalling important findings to recognize with trauma cases: ABCDEFGHI

A – Aortic transection/dissection
B – Bronchial fracture
C – Cord injury
D – Diaphragmatic rupture
E – Esophageal tear
F – Flail chest, Foreign bodies
G – Gas (pneumothorax and pneumoperitoneum)
H – Heart (such as pericardial effusion)
I – Iatrogenic injury
